4 Quick & Easy Fourth of July Entertaining Tips!

Whether you are just having a few friends over or you have your doors open to the neighborhood, aim to have a stress-less Fourth of July this year with a few of my quick and easy entertaining tips!

1) See what you already have on hand and keep the decorations to a minimum.  A burlap runner, a tray, small florals from the yard, a candle and a few small trinkets keep this coffee table fresh, yet festive.

2) Forage your yard first for flowers.  Hydrangeas are in full bloom, here in the Pacific Northwest, and the beautiful blue hues in these flowers make for a beautiful, simple centerpiece.

3)  Dress up your mantel/fireplace with a simple garland or banner like our USA Canvas Bunting. A banner is quick to hang and can make any room holiday-ready in seconds.

4) Raid your grocery store bakery section for freshly made desserts & add to them.  You'd be surprised at the selection!  You may need to order a cake in advance but for less than $15,  its worth it.  This simple white cake is dressed up with in-season berries. For a different look, try topping the dessert with fresh flowers in red, white, or blues.

One thing I've learned in my many years of entertaining is to zero in on your strengths. Are you a great cook?  Put your effort and focus on that.  Love baking?  Bake your grandmothers blueberry pie from scratch.  For all the rest, simplify it.  Find ways that make the other tasks easy (like in the above suggestions). Or delegate tasks to others that emphasize their own strengths.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend full of new memories, delicious food, great company, sparkling fireworks, and warm campfires.  Here's to a very Happy Fourth of July!

Warmly,

Holiday Entertaining with the Botanica Collection

Holiday entertaining with the Rosanna Botanica Collection inspiration board

It is the perfect time to gather family and friends for reminiscing and creating new memories.  An afternoon of baking cookies, topped off  with hot cocoa is a great way to entertain guests of all ages.

Inspired by the outdoor feel and gold accents of Rosanna's Botanica collection (now on sale!), I'm sharing an inspiration board that is a great starting point for a simple but elegant gathering that mixes old and new traditions.

Set up a simple hot cocoa bar stocked with Botanica mugs, your favorite hot cocoa recipe and small containers of mix ins like these from Pen N' Paper Flowers.

Elli's chalkboard signage is a great example of how to enhance your bar's tablescape.

If you plan on moving guests outdoors, I love this idea of keeping them cozy with a pretty bin of blankets featured on Style Me Pretty

Display your cookies and other treats on the Botanica rectangular platter while guests serve themselves with the dessert plates.

All you need to create these lovely rosemary sprig place cards from Spoon Fork Bacon are sprigs of rosemary, printed (or hand written) place cards, and a hole punch.

Don't be afraid you use your nice linens...Weranna's cleverly uses hers tied with sprigs and cinnamon sticks.

Cheers to a wonderful holiday!

Table Wear: La Cité

Add some glitz to your Thanksgiving table and holiday entertaining!  Our new La Cité collection is comprised of unusual serving pieces with retro patterns that create an uber-sophisticated look. These pieces make a stunning addition to any modern tablescape or bar cart.

It's easy to bring the glamour of the 50s and 60s into the home: mix 'n match geometric patterns, retro-inspired furnishings, and of course (our favorite), lots of metallic gold!

Order La Cite by 11/18 for Thanksgiving delivery and by 12/17 for Christmas delivery (ground shipping).
